Top Reasons to Consider the Chevrolet Malibu over the Camry
  1. The Chevy Malibu has stormed the ranks of the midsize market and since 2008 has outpaced the Camry in most automotive reviews.  It was named a 2010 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Instatute for Highway Safety and a 2010 Consumers Digest Best Buy
  2. The Malibu and the Camry LE have the same horsepower rating, each generating 169 hp.  Camry 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Malibu takes powertrain leadership with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission. If you want a 6-speed automatic on a Camry LE, you’ll have to plan on spending nearly $1000 for the step up.
  3. When comes to fuel economy, automatic to automatic, Malibu beats Camry in highway fuel economy. In fact, to match Malibu 1LT’s fuel economy, Camry buyers have to settle for a manual transmission.
  4. Malibu has a longer wheelbase than Camry for a smoother ride and larger 17" wheels for good handling characteristics. You can’t get 17" wheels on the Camry LE.
  5. Malibu features available equipment such as a Remote Vehicle Starter System and a 110-volt AC power outlet. None of these features are available on Camry.
  6. Malibu’s powertrain warranty has a longer duration and includes roadside assistance and courtesy transportation; Camry’s shorter powertrain warranty includes neither.
  7. Malibu includes OnStar as standard equipment; a comparable feature is not available on Camry.
