Engine Differences: 2.7L vs. 4.3L vs. 5.3L vs. 6.2L

With four advanced engines to choose from, you’ll be able to find a powertrain you like. The 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine has two slightly different vehicle management systems and transmissions. The Automatic Fuel Management (AFM) system comes with six-speed automatic transmission, and the Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) system comes with eight-speed automatic transmission. Axle Ratio Options

Depending on which cab, bed, and engine configurations you choose, you can get either 3.23 or 3.42 rear axle ratio. Rear axle ratio is important because the higher the rear axle ratio, the more towing capacity you have.
