This type of oil does not require any petroleum to produce and is entirely synthesized through chemical engineering in a production facility. Full-synthetic oil has an extended change interval of up to 10,000 miles.
Yes, it is possible and often an excellent decision to change the engine oil from conventional to synthetic under some circumstances. We commonly recommend that higher mileage engines change to synthetic when the engine has 75,000 miles due to the added benefits.
